Trimix Injections
“Tri-Mix is typically considered to be the most powerful class of anti-erectile dysfunction agents available. While the components of Tri-Mix (Papaverine, Phentolamine, Prostaglandin E1) are, on their own, indicated for a vast number of different conditions, the practice of bringing them together in concert to treat erectile dysfunction has become commonplace in sexual medicine and is now considered to be the go-to treatment if conventional PDE5 inhibitors (Viagra, Cialis) are contraindicated or nonresponsive.”
The Science Behind Trimix Injections
Trimix is a combination of three different medications: prostaglandin-E1, papaverine, and phentolamine. Prostaglandin-E1 is an FDA-approved medication for ED, while papaverine and phentolamine are both widely used for promoting healthy blood flow.
By injecting these medications directly into the penis, they bypass the digestive system and are absorbed quickly into the blood vessels. This leads to an efficient response while reducing the potential for systemic side effects and not affected by food or alcohol.
Components Of Trimix
The combination of the components found in Trimix relaxes and dilates the blood vessels, thereby improving blood flow to the penis. The following is a brief breakdown of each component and its role in the overall effect of Trimix.
Prostaglandin-E1 is a synthetic form of prostaglandin E1. This hormone-like substance helps to relax blood vessels and increase blood flow. Alprostadil also has additional benefits, such as inhibiting platelet aggregation, reducing inflammation, and stimulating factor X, an enzyme involved in blood clotting. These effects can help improve overall cardiovascular health and support healthy sexual functioning. The alprostadil component is responsible for the majority of the effects of Trimix.
Papaverine is a smooth muscle relaxant that increases blood flow and reduces inflammation. It has been used in treating angina, heart problems, and blood vessel problems due to its ability to dilate blood vessels as well as improve circulation.
Phentolamine is an alpha-blocker that works to expand the blood vessels to allow better blood flow. Additionally, phentolamine helps to prevent the breakdown of cGMP and complements the effects of alprostadil and papaverine, thereby helping support healthy sexual function
How Does Trimix Work?
When administered correctly, the combination of prostaglandin-E1, papaverine, and phentolamine contained in Trimix injections relax the smooth muscles in the penis and dilate blood vessels, allowing for increased blood flow. Additionally, because Trimix is injected directly into the penis, it can work quickly and efficiently without being affected by other factors such as food or alcohol consumption.
Navigating Trimix Injection Dosages
Trimix is a compound medication, meaning the dosage will vary based on the needs and responses of each individual patient. Generally speaking, we will begin by prescribing a lower dose of Trimix and gradually increase it until the desired effect is achieved.
A starting dosage will typically be around 10 units. Subsequent dosages will be increased by no more than 5 units at a time – up to a maximum of 50 units. Once this maximum dosage is reached, we can consider other options like Quadmix and Super Quadmix.
Finally, most doctors recommend taking no more than three doses per week and waiting at least 24 hours between doses to avoid developing a tolerance or experiencing adverse effects.
Factors Influencing Dosage Requirements
Due to the individualized nature of Trimix dosages, healthcare providers and patients need to work together to find the optimal dose. Several different factors play a role in determining the appropriate dosage, such as age, overall health, and previous experiences with other medications.
Some additional factors that may influence the dosage requirements for Trimix include:
-
Body weight and composition: Patients who weigh more may require a higher dosage of Trimix to achieve the same effect as someone with a lower weight.
-
Frequency of use: For those who use Trimix regularly, the dosage may need to be adjusted over time. This is because more narrowing of the blood vessels has likely occurred, requiring a higher dosage to achieve the same effect.
-
Psychological factors: Stress and anxiety can both affect the success of Trimix, and a higher dosage may be required to counteract their impact.
Potential Side Effects of Incorrect Dosage
Injecting an incorrect dosage of Trimix may lead to various side effects and complications, including:
- Prolonged erections that last more than four hours (priapism)
- Temporary swelling at the injection site
- Bruising or bleeding at the injection site
- Transitory pain, which refers to temporary or short-lasting pain that subsides on its own
Most of these side effects will resolve on their own, but you should contact us if they persist or worsen.
Why Dosage Matters in Trimix Administration
To ensure that you safely achieve the desired results, it’s crucial that you know the right dosage for Trimix administration. Using too little medication may not provide adequate results, while using too much can increase the risk of side effects (such as tissue damage or prolonged erections).
Therefore, it is important to work closely with us to determine the appropriate dosage based on individual needs and factors.
It is also important to note that adjusting dosage should always be done under the guidance of a healthcare provider. Changing the dosage without medical supervision can be dangerous since it can lead to harmful side effects or interactions with other medications.

Boosts Overall Well-Being
Sexual health is an essential aspect of your well-being. By achieving optimal results with the proper dosage of Trimix injections, you can experience a boost in your overall physical and emotional well-being.
Administering Trimix Injections Correctly
Because Trimix is a self-injection medication, it is essential to follow the correct administration techniques to ensure safety and effectiveness. The following are some general guidelines for administering Trimix injections:
Set Up the Materials Needed
Before starting, ensure you have all the necessary materials in a clean and organized area. This includes the syringe with the correct dose of Trimix and alcohol pads. Having everything you need ready beforehand will make the injection process smoother and reduce the risk of contamination or errors. Be for injecting Trimix be sure you have purchased some Sudafed and have obtained a 0.05cc syringe of phenylephrine from TrueVertex to use as antidotes if you experience a prolonged erection.
Prepare The Injection Site
Choose a clean and well-lit area to administer the injection. Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before preparing the injection site. Use an alcohol pad to clean the intended injection site. Allow it to dry completely before proceeding.
Steps to Inject Trimix
To properly and safely inject Trimix, follow these steps:
-
Allow Trimix syringe to thaw to room temperature (5-10 minutes)
-
Sit upright or slightly reclined in a comfortable position.
-
Locate the corpora cavernosa, the spongy tissue on the sides of the penis where the injection will be administered.
-
Choose an injection site on the side of the penis shaft, avoiding any visible blood vessels. The proper location for injection is at the 9-11 and the 1-3 o’clock positions, between the base and the midportion of the penis. Avoid the midline because of potential for injury to the urethra (6 o’clock for urine passage) and the penile arteries and nerves (near 12 o’clock).
-
Hold the head of your penis and gently stretch it lengthwise along your thigh so you can see where you plan to inject the solution.
-
Clean the area you plan to inject with a new alcohol swab and allow it to dry completely.
-
Remove the needle cover. Then hold the syringe between your thumb and index finger.
-
While firmly holding the penis against your thigh to prevent movement, insert the needle straight into the penis at a 90-degree angle. The needle should be advanced to the hub.
-
Slowly push down on the plunger and inject the entire volume of solution. Inject the Trimix over approximately 4 seconds.
-
Grasp the syringe barrel and gently pull out the needle from your penis.
-
Tighten your grip at the base of the penis and hold it as close to the body as possible (You should continue to hold this grip for at least three minutes following the injection).
-
You should experience an erection typically 5-10 minutes after injection.
Apply Compression
After injecting Trimix, apply light pressure to the injection site with an alcohol pad or clean gauze to help reduce bruising and bleeding. It is also essential to monitor the effects of the medication, as it may take some time to see results. It is also important to watch out for adverse reactions. If you have an allergic reaction, be sure to contact us right away. Massaging the area can help disperse the Trimix.
Dispose Of Needles Safely
Used needles should be disposed of in a puncture-proof container, such as a sharps container or an empty plastic bottle with a secure lid. It is important to never reuse needles and properly dispose of them to prevent accidental needle sticks and the spread of infections. Additionally, check local regulations for proper disposal methods in your area. Practicing safe needle disposal is crucial for personal and environmental health.
Storage of Trimix
Your syringes should be stored frozen until ready for injection, it should take 5-10 minutes for a syringe to thaw. You should use the Trimix within a couple of hours after thawing to room temperature. Do not thaw and refreeze. You can keep Trimix in a syringe for:
Up to 6 months to a year when frozen
Up to 1 month refrigerated
A few hours up to a day when at room temperature
If you need the syringe to thaw faster, gently roll the syringe in your palms. Never use a microwave or any heat source as it could destroy your injection.
Exposure to higher temperatures can lead to very quick degradation of your medicine.
Never let your Trimix syringes get warm
Always transport them in a medical grade cooler (TSA approved coolers available on Amazon)
Do not place them near heat sources, stoves, grills, etc.
Never expose Trimix to direct sunlight
Do not leave syringes in the car
Do not warm Trimix to unfreeze it.
If Trimix is not stored correctly, its potency may be compromised and may not work as intended.
Treatment of Prolonged Erection (Priapism)
Prolonged erections rarely occur with Trimix injections; however, this condition must be addressed promptly so that permanent damage to the penis does not occur. Priapism can also cause severe pain. It is therefore important to only inject the correct amount of Trimix prescribed to you. Follow these instructions if you experience a prolonged or uncomfortable erection.
-
Prior to using Trimix injections you should purchase some Sudafed (Pseudoephedrine HCl) which can be obtained over the counter. This usually comes in 30mg tablets. You should also purchase a syringe of 0.05cc of Phenylephrine Solution from TrueVertex prior to using Trimix. This syringe is not to be refrigerated. This is a powerful antidote to the Trimix.
-
If you have an erection that has lasted 2 hours, take 120mg of Sudafed (4 tablets)
-
If you have had an erection approaching 4 hours, inject 0.05cc of Phenylephrine using the same technique used to inject the Trimix into the penis.
-
If you have had an erection longer than 4 hours after the above treatments, proceed to the nearest emergency room where you can receive more aggressive therapy. Delay in seeking treatment can result in permanent damage to your penis.
