Stefanie McCain, MD, FACGOG

Owner / Gynecologist

Dr. McCain is a Board-Certified Gynecologist with over 26 years of experience in this field, with 20 of those years in Abilene. She opened her practice in Abilene in 1997 after serving 12 years as an obstetrician and gynecologist in The United States Airforce, eventually retiring as a Major from Dyess Airforce Base.  Dr. McCain retired from practicing obstetrics in 2015 after delivering babies for 26 years. She is now able to focus on gynecology, specializing in minimally invasive gynecologic surgeries using the DaVinci robotic platform.

Dr. McCain was the first Board Certified gynecologist to perform a robotic-assisted hysterectomy in Abilene and currently has performed the most robotic gynecologic procedures in the area.

Dr. McCain is passionate in her ability to offer bioidentical hormone optimization for both women and men, allowing her patients to age healthier and live happier. She is a Platinum Legacy Provider for BioTE Hormone Pellets.

Dr. McCain is a Fellow with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, a member of the Texas Medical Association and a member the Taylor-Jones-Haskell County Medical Society.

Dr. McCain is associated with Abilene Regional Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. She also maintains an office in Early, Texas. After completing her undergraduate studies at Angelo State University in 1993, Stacy Hammond began her nursing career as a Certified Emergency Nurse and a Certified Critical Care Nurse, working in the Trauma Center and Critical Care unit at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. In 1997 she completed her Family Nurse Practitioner training and earned her Master's Degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio, graduating with honors. She spent the next several years working in invasive cardiology and internal medicine/critical care.

Ms. Hammond has served as Clinical Site Coordinator for multiple international research studies. She also works as the medical provider for an outpatient treatment center for eating disorders and other addictive behaviors. She has also completed advanced training in medical aesthetics and laser treatments. She is certified in facial rejuvenation procedures and BioTE hormonal treatment for men and women.

Ms. Hammond is considered an expert in the field of bioidentical hormone optimization. She serves as a mentor, instructor, and lecturer for BioTE medical and helps other Physicians and Nurse Practitioners further their expertise in this field. She is recognized as a Legacy Platinum Provider for BioTE and is considered a "top 10" provider in the nation.

In her 25+ years of practice, she has gained comprehensive experience, which has prepared her for managing patients holistically and completely to help guide them towards a wellness model. Having had her life personally changed from hormonal balance, she strives to focus on the patient as a whole and meet their individual needs and concerns in a personal manner.

Family Nurse Practitioner

Originally from Pennsylvania, Amy Murphy started her nursing career in 1991 and completed her Bachelor degree in nursing in 1993. As a certified emergency nurse, she worked in Emergency Departments in Pennsylvania and then in Texas. Her travels with her military husband took her to Germany where she worked in a military clinic. Upon returning stateside, Ms. Murphy completed her Family Nurse Practitioner training and earned her Master’s Degree from Clarkson College in Omaha, NE in 2002.

Since that time, she has worked in family practice, urgent care and emergency settings caring for a myriad of patients both adult and pediatric. In May of 2018 Ms. Murphy graduated with her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a specific focus on improving the discharge process for patients with chronic medical conditions in the hope of preventing readmission. 

In her over 30 years of nursing experience, Amy Murphy has precepted and mentored registered
nurse and nurse practitioner students, owned her own family practice clinic, and provided care
for our nation’s veterans.  Ms. Murphy has been providing care to patients in the Brownwood
area since 2002. She strives to provide holistic care to her patients and their families while
encouraging them to be their own advocates for their healthcare needs.
